Luke Mortimer
Luke was a 7-year-old budding rugby player with Skipton RFC where his Dad coached, and Mum ran a children’s rugby kit recycling stall. However, on the 13th December 2019 Luke was admitted to hospital and diagnosed with Meningococcal Meningitis and due to him then contracting sepsis had to have all 4 limbs amputated. Both hands, left at mid forearm and right just below the elbow and both legs below the knee.
The operations were successful, and Luke finally left Sheffield Children’s Hospital in May this year. Luke is left with a life changing disability and required prosthetic limbs for all 4 limbs. He is now having ongoing physiotherapy to enable him to learn to stand and walk again and eventually learning to use the prosthetics.
The Voyagers donated the sum of £5,000 to Luke’s Appeal Fund.
